Description:The Pouilly-Fume Les Ombelles from the Loire Valley France is made by Sauvion and is a great food wine and has a savoury, smoky nature. It is made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape and has aromas of gooseberries, citrus and subtle smokiness waft out of the glass, whilst the palate is lighter to medium-bodied, rich and chalky textured, with grapefruit and gooseberry flavours, fresh acidity, and a dry, fruity finish.
The property is in the heart of the Nantais, at the western end of the Loire, close to the ocean and its helpful cooling breezes. Most of the Sauvions 35ha of vines is in the central Sèvre-et-Maine area of Nantes, producing Muscadet using the melon de bourgogne (muscadet) grape, but the estate also has vines in the more coastal area, plus some sauvignon blanc and chardonnay.
