Tasting Notes: Italy’s central Marche region is Verdicchio’s spiritual homeland. The grape has been documented here since the 14th century. It’s said that Venetian grapegrowers brought it with them upon fleeing to the countryside during the Plague. Between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea, cool and breezy hillsides offer the perfect environment for citrusy, high-acidity Verdicchio. Wines from the high-altitude Castelli di Jesi appellation are known for their refreshing, minerally character. If you’re a fan of Gavi or Chablis, this organic bottling makes a fantastic alternative choice. It’s versatile thanks to rich, zesty flavours and crisp acidity. So pair notes of stone fruits, pineapple and citrus with everything from hard cheeses to fish pie
